ABOUT US

Our philosophy is simple; to deliver efficient, effective, reliable and affordable solutions for our clients.

We are independent engineers and do not sell or install any irrigation equipment. As such we are unencumbered from any commercial pressure to specify a certain product that has a high profit margin or under-specify a critical component that has a low profit margin.

Irriplan was founded in 1994 by Giles Wardle, a Chartered Engineer recognised by the industry as one of the most qualified and experienced engineers in the specialist field of turf irrigation and water engineering.

Giles’ Resume

  • Chartered Engineer. UK Engineering Council
  • BSc. Soil & Land Resource Science. University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. 1990
  • MSc. Irrigation Engineering. University of Cranfield. 1991
  • Member of the The Institution of Agricultural Engineers
  • Affiliate of the European Institute Of Golf Course Architects

Giles was born and brought up in Portugal on a large arable farm where he gained an early (and arguably unhealthy) fascination into soil, water and irrigation. Designing, operating, servicing and maintaining the family farm’s 140 hectares of irrigation gave Giles a wealth of practical experience and an appreciation of the end-user’s perspective of irrigation and water resources.

Giles’ early career and academic training in soils has given him valuable experience in the agronomic aspects of irrigation and a rounded comprehension of the technical disciplines related to irrigation and water engineering. Giles has worked in golf and turf irrigation since 1991 and in that time has been privileged to design irrigation systems for some of the most renowned golf courses and golf architects in the world.

Giles speaks Portuguese and Spanish.
